One of the cool things about Garmin's is the ability to load custom POI databases. I have one for red light cameras, one for WalMart and Sam's Club, one for Costco, one for BBQ joints and a whole bunch of others. I don't use the Garmin much any more because Google Maps has me spoiled plus I always have the phone with me.

Yeah my phone means I don't take out the Garmin much anymore. Only when I'm in the USA and would be paying for roaming data.

I have recently become aware of the value and need for a GPS navigation system. And since I don't have a smartphone , this one looks like a winner.

I've got a smart phone, but maybe it's too smart for me, lol. Prefer our dedicated Garmin. The search function of Google Maps on the phone is much better, but once I've got destinations bookmarked, I like the Garmin.

    Hi Mendel:

I am with you. I usually have a smartphone at my side but it is far to cumbersome and small while relying on connection for Googlemaps vs. a 5" Gamin on the windscreen.

Since I have a Note 3 a 5 inch screen would actually be a step down. Still love the Garmin though. I'd recommend anyone who has one to PIN lock it so if it gets stolen the thief won't be able to pawn it.
