For Sale - 4L80 out of 1998 Express 2500

Trans out of a 1998 Express 5.7L 2500 8600 grs.
I think it is a 4L80, but dont see it anywhere. So feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I got the van from a deadbeat that owes me a bunch of $. His worker was driving the van down the Eway and blew the headgaskets.
Van had 180,000 on it.

I drove the van with more water than oil in the engine on to a trailer, off the trailer, and back and forth a couple times from my house to the shop - a whole 2 blocks each way. Nothing odd out of the trans, but I probably didnt get above 20 mph either.

I was keeping it around as a spare for my '99 van. But since I sold the '99 I have no use for it.

That's a 4L80E - long pan that's rounded at the rear. Strong transmission - many TH400 parts plus the extra overdrive planetary. It needs a computer to work - it can't get swapped into an old muscle car for a quick&dirty overdrive. As long as the seals are ok and the fluid isn't contaminated, it'd be a good unit to sell for someone who lost theirs to overheating or flood water, as long as it's priced in line with parts/labor for a rebuild of an existing trans.

And be careful moving it - it's a heavy SOB.

 

Thanks for the confirmation. Thought it was a 4l80, but the van it came out of went to scrap yard a couple years ago.

Heavy? It looked like a mini trans when I had it sitting next to the Allison on the floor.
