When I had motorcycles , I would let NO ONE else ride them. Except my dad , who was skillful and careful. If I WAS to teach someone how to ride , I would ask them a few (should-be) obvious questions : Can you ride a bicycle ? More importantly , can you drive a car with manual transmission ? You need BOTH of those skills. And all the equipment, all of the time. Meaning , helmet , gloves , boots or sturdy shoes , real pants , preferably leathers. Did I ever tell you about the time Young Edwin was riding down a gravel road at 35 MPH BAREFOOT , when he hit a dog and almost lost control ? He ended up with rocks stuck in his feet. Some of us have to learn the HARD way.
Hi All: My favorite advert for this Holiday Season despite being published last Holiday Season advert comes from Mercedes-Benz. "Pit Stop" includes Santa, Presents, a beautiful Golden Puppy, an excellent story, and a great lineup of luxury automobiles in formation on a snow covered road. They absolutely killed it! Wayne
A Hawaiian vacation is not complete until a luau is attended These fire dancing warriors killed it!
What does a sunrise look like while on top of a volcano at almost 10,000 ft ASL? Haleakala National Park is a beautiful climb up to the crater and the sunrise was awe inspiring... A little chilly at 46 degrees but so worth it.
Hi All: The Top Gun 2 Trailers are out and hopefully this will be great. Here is an extended trailer of what we will all see next summer. Wayne
Hi All: The best movie I have seen all year and I wish I would have seen it 2 months ago when it was first released! If it does not win a few Academy Awards, 20th Century Fox, Matt Damon and Christian Bale got robbed just as Ken Miles did in 1966. Ford vs Ferrari Trailer #1 Trailer #2 And a few of the big item non-factual and factual details that arose within the movie. Plus a ton of other little things but it was still a blast. Ford really did almost buy Ferrari but Ford's Iaccoca did not make the trip as the movie depicts. Ken Mile's GT40 door actually did not close during the first lap of the 1966 24-hours of Le Mans. Enzo Ferrari was not actually at the 1966 Le Mans in 1966. Henry Ford II was however. Carol Shelby and Ken Miles were not the GT40's only designers or key to its development. They moved mountains to make it better but were not the principals. The movie staged brawl between Carol Shelby and Ken Miles did not/never did occur. Henry Ford II did want to get back at Ferrari for calling the company and Henry Ford II derogatory names during the purchase negotiations and he did just that with Le Mans wins in 1966, 1967, 1968, and 1969 with the Ford GT40. Ford did not oppose sending Ken Miles to Le Mans in 1966. He raced in 1965 in an early GT40. Ken Miles last ride and death occurred while testing the latest GT40 just 2-months after the 1966 Le Mans was true. Carol Shelby did not take Henry Ford II for a racing ride in the GT40. He should have however! All 3 Ford's did finish 1, 2 and 3. And it robbed Ken Miles of the win he most certainly deserved. Ford is the only American manufacturer to win the highest speed class at Le Mans over the course of its 96 years of racing history! Minus the on-running years. 1966 Ford GT40 at Le Mans Prior to the flag drop. The race has been cancelled just ten times—in 1936 (a labor strike during the Great Depression) and between 1940 and 1948 (World War II). 1966 Ford GT40 at Le Mans The real winner before your very eyes. Enjoy! Wayne
I'm glad Ford didn't buy Ferrari. I wonder how many Mustang parts would end up in badge-engineered Ferrari's ? I really like the movie, too.
