[IMG]New RAM 1500 is the “driving force” in more ways than one.

    [fimg=left]http://www.cleanmpg.com/photos/data/501/2013_RAM_1500.jpg[/fimg]Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - Jan. 3, 2013

2013 RAM 1500 – 18/25 mpgUS city/highway in its most fuel efficient form, it is also a 30 mpgUS provider at 60 mph and matches its 25 mpgUS EPA highway at 70 mph, something no full size truck before it could achieve.

While the Pentastar is not as powerful as EcoBoost, it easily tops every large PU truck ever produced no matter the engine or technology applied (this includes the 23 mpgUS highway rated Silverado Hybrid and base 3.7L equipped F-150) when it comes to fuel economy and features.

A full sized PU truck with a car like interior, powerful enough for real work and fuel efficient enough that even I can embrace it for a contractor or company that needs to employ a work truck while saving at the pump.

The Ram 1500 not only delivers the best-in-class fuel economy but provides its owners with a (RAM appropriately phrased this one :)) truckload of pioneering, fuel-saving systems including a more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6L V-6 and first-in-segment eight-speed automatic transmission, stop-start system, thermal management system, pulse-width modulation and active aerodynamics, including grille shutters and air suspension.

For our take, look no further than our various write-ups and the actual drive listed below.

    Chrysler’s December Sales Results

Chrysler this morning reported U.S. sales of 152,367 units, a 10.4 percent increase compared with sales in December 2011 (138,019 units), and the group’s best December sales since 2007.

Chrysler, Dodge, Ram Truck and FIAT each posted year-over-year sales gains with Jeep experiencing a 9 percent downturn on a December 2012 vs. December 2011 basis.

For the year, Chrysler Group sales totaled 1,651,787 units, up 20.6 percent compared with sales in 2011 of 1,369,114 vehicles sold.

    Chrysler Sales Highlights by Brand

Fiat 500 sales were up 59.4 percent last month, a sales record for the month of December. For the year, Fiat 500 sales (43,772 units) were up a substantial 121 percent compared with sales (19,769 units) during the 10 months that the model was sold in the U.S. in 2011. Fiat 500 sales in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico exceeded 50,000 units in 2012.

Dodge sales were up 26 percent in December, the brand’s best December sales in five years and its 19th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. December was the brand’s best monthly sales performance of the year. December also marked the second time during 2012 that the Dodge brand sold more than 50,000 units in a given month.

The 2013 Dodge Dart experienced sales of 6,105 vehicles sold, a 36 percent month-over-month in December and the best sales results since it went on in June.

For the year, Dodge brand sales (524,989 units) were up 16 percent versus sales (451,040 units) in 2011, the brand’s best annual sales since 2007.

RAM - The new Ram pickup truck extended its streak of year-over-year sales gains to 32-consecutive months. Sales of the Ram pickup truck were up 16 percent in December compared with the same month a year ago and the pickup truck’s best monthly sales performance since December 2007. Sales of the Heavy Duty Ram were up 20 percent, while sales of the Light Duty Ram trucks increased 14 percent.

For the year, Ram Truck brand sales (300,928 units) were up 17 percent compared with sales (257,610 units) in 2011. The Ram pickup truck had its best annual sales since 2007.

The 200 sedan set an annual sales record in 2012, while the 300 flagship sedan recorded its best annual sales since 2007. The Town & Country had its best year since 2010.

Jeep’s U.S. December sales results (39,871 units) helped to push global Jeep brand sales to a record in 2012. Jeep brand sales were however unfortunately down 9 percent in December. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, the money maker for the brand, posted its best sales month of the year in December and its best December sales in seven years.

For the year, Jeep brand sales (474,131units) in the U.S. were up 13 percent compared with sales (419,349 units) in 2011, the brand’s best annual sales since 2007. The Wrangler and Patriot each set an annual sales record in 2012 while the Grand Cherokee recorded its best annual sales since 2005.

And about that 13 RAM, enough said!

    Hi All:

Chrysler Canada Had a great 2012 Too!

Finishes Year With Best Retail Sales Year Since 2000

Chrysler Canada announced its 37th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, representing the longest sales streak in the Company’s history. December 2012 sales were 14,756 compared with 14,628 in December, 2011 (that was really really close ;)), which represents a 0.8 percent increase. For the full year, sales were 243,845, compared with 230,992 in 2011. This signifies a 5.6 percent increase.

    Chrysler Canada Sales Highlights

Chrysler Canada passenger car sales more than doubled for the month with an increase of 103 per cent in December 2012 with 2,827 sales and 33 percent for the calendar year with 42,509 sales.

The all-new Dodge Dart posted its fifth consecutive month of sales increases since its launch. In December, 849 Dodge Darts were sold, up 3 percent from the month of November 2012.

The Chrysler 200 set a monthly sales record for December 2012 with 614 units sold, up 33 percent from 460 units sold in December, 2011. This is also an annual sales record for the Chrysler 200, which, when combined with Dodge Avenger, makes Chrysler Canada the number one seller of mid-size passenger cars in the country for 2012.

Fiat 500 achieved an annual sales record with 8,474 units sold for the year, up 57 percent from 2011 when 5,392 vehicles were sold.

Jeep brand sales were very strong in 2012, led primarily by strong consecutive monthly increases of Wrangler. In December 2012, 988 Wranglers were sold, up 27 percent from December 2011, when 778 vehicles were sold. For the 2012 calendar year, 18,996 Jeep Wranglers were sold, up 21 percent from 15,636 vehicles sold in 2011. These results represent both a monthly and an annual sales record for the one-of-a-kind Jeep Wrangler.

For the 2012 calendar year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee claims the top spot as the number one selling full-size SUV in the country.

Ram trucks are Canada’s longest-lasting line of pickup trucks. For the month of December 2012, 4,987 Ram trucks were sold, compared with 4,921 sold in December of 2011. This represents a 1.3 percent increase, as well as a monthly sales record. For the full year, 67,634 trucks were sold, representing an increase of 7.4 percent over all of 2011 when 62,929 RAMs were sold. This represents an annual sales record. Ram trucks rank as the number-two selling vehicle in the country.
