Yeah-city wide lockdown- 500,000 ???? people-ORDERED to stay in their houses???
For ONE ONE suspect-who was injured and couldn't carry "too big" a bomb with a bullet hole in him.

Yeah-pretty high handed-this Homeland Security stuff is BS.
Who ever came up with a NAZI COMMIE name like that anyway
    HOMELAND??
We-USA- have never spoken of the USA as our HOMELAND
Some sort of BS propaganda-Goebels like propaganda-HOMELAND-
    what nazi dreamed that up!!
Make we want to puke overtime I hear it!!

I want to comment somehow on this, but I just...can't.

Actually, for me a bigger concern than the lockdown is that some are calling for this dirtbag to be tried as an enemy combatant. Get real. The legal system can handle him just fine.

He is a naturalized citizen. There is only one acceptable way to try him - as a citizen. If not, we're setting a precedent for arbitrary disregard of constitutional rights.

And then look at possible changes to the naturalization process.

    That's yet another problem.

While I am glad the perps were ID'd so quickly, there is a lot about this whole case which is giving me indigestion. :Banane31:

So far, we have several people dead, hundreds injured, and NOBODY is getting any of the constitutional rights they should be getting.

    Homeland-still drives me nuts.
In the USA we never referred to our country as THE HOMELAND-
like a bunch of Nazis or commies!!
America or the US or the USA
    Not THE HOMELAND!!
Obvious BS propaganda 1984 speak !!
    Some kind of REPUBLICAN/NEOCON NEWSPEAK!!

    Enemy Combatant??? Bombing children-joggers??
Muslims hate the USA because we are killing their co-religionists
    Well that milk is spilled.
In any case-we didn't kill any of his relatives-just strangers 2000 miles away who happened to be the same religion.

Yeah-the courts can handle him just fine.
And I find I'm not particularly up for the death penalty in this case??
Hard to believe death penalty is actually more expensive than few dollars worth of pentothal-curare-or what ever they use-but it is
so life in prison-just fine I guess.
Maybe we will learn something useful??
Don't blunder around in pointless wars??? Lotta blowback!! Ron Paul-right on that!!

    Neat

I wonder how much it is-per adaptor??
    7" LONG plenty for pistol calibers- 308 223 ?? Not sure what they do with 7"-maybe 60% of 16" del-maybe 2000 fps for 223 ??
ALS-What is your best guess on the 223 velocity 55 grains
With factory loads-not with your home brews-you have given us specs on some of yours!!
Shake your fillings out with those loads!!
    Thanks

    I checked-$450 for all the barrels-NOT BAD
I might go for it now that I am soon to be "entitled"
Don't worry I still be working-but I will also be getting SS at 62yo

Maybe I should quit work and let you folks COMPLETELY SUPPORT ME
Since as Herm says I am a near Commie Obamaite!!

    Just kidding-like those barrels though
I have a a fair number of rounds in all those calibers-despite only having 2 40's-Sig Glock
Mini 14 Beretta 22 and some 22 rifles-
Plenty- 1000's of other rounds from guns I had to sell
Thanks for the heads up-$450 isn't bad

Most .223 with a 55 grain bullet are rated around 3000-3100 fps.

BTW I load all my rifle rounds for accuracy. The only slightly hot loads are the ones I use in my .308 Tactical Bolt actions. I load them with 42.2 grains of IMR 4064 behind a 175 grain Sierra Match King. Which pushes the velocity up to 2,650 ft per second, so the bullet stays supersonic out past 1000 yards. All the other 308 semi-autos are loaded at 2550 ft per sec for the best accuracy out to 800 plus yards. :)

I load my 300 WinMags with 190 Sierra Match Kings at 2950 ft per second using 71.5 grains of Reloader 22.

Check the twist of the rifling. Most .223's these days will roughly line up with NATO specs for the 5,56mm, meaning a different twist to suit heavier rounds.

Most of the best accuracy I have seen is attained with the lighter bullets, 45-55gr though.

Winchester has a varmint load with a 45gr bullet that was fantastic in my Dad's Remington 700 right out of the box though. It darn near matches the handloads on some days. His is kind of an oddball, a .222 reamed out at some point to chamber .223. Even leaves rings on the brass where the original factory chamber ended and the reaming began. Fantastic looking and shooting rifle though, and of course shooting .223 is always a pleasure. The .22 of full rifle rounds :)

AlS- so what is your 223 guess out of a 7" barrel-I'm guessing 2000 fps??

I seem to remember some-maybe you-loading a 50 cal handgun-forget which one- it 1950 FPS with a bullet most folks get about 1650 fps?? A real filling shaker!!

    So 7" barrel 223 velocity ???

$450 really isn't bad for all those barrels!!
    Thanks
    Charlie

.500 S+W? Those are filling shakers no matter what load you use.

I have a Bushmaster Bull Pup Arm Pistol in .223/5.56 and it is the absolute loudest gun I own. The barrel is 11.63 inches in total. According to the owners manual they say the muzzle velocity is 2950 ft per sec. So I'm betting Charlie the .223 conversion still has the round traveling out of the gun at a minimum of 2,500 ft per second.

ALS-2500 fps would be plenty of umph for a 55 grain bullet
I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that!!

JCP- bet that was it-the 50s&w-and I'm 99.99% certainly it was ALS- since he is the
"one most likely to RELOAD and shoot higher powered "guns" at long ranges"

Yeah I looked it up in one of my reloading(circa 1995 maybe) manuals-1650 was an upper end load for that weight!!
Heck it made me flinch JUST READING IT!!
