Listening to PBS on the radio - have not Googled for the content I'm going to casually mention. Reforestation to combat Global Warming may be more complicated. One man is saying reforestation in tropical regions such as the Amazon is twice as effective as thought because forests bring out water vapor, protect animals and plants from the sun, produce more clouds that reflect light back into space. He goes on the question putting more forests in Northern areas like Siberia and Canada because evergreens are much darker than snow - i.e. they heat up the land. CO2 aside from Climate Change is relatively harmless, but geologists have taken ancient plants and estimated the oxygen content in the past. It's varied from 10 to 30%. When it's been 30%, enormous insects are possible....and the entire planet should be considered a no smoking zone. When it gets down to 10%...there may be a drop in species. We might be seeing a species drop in part becasue of warming, habitat loss and reduced oxygen. This post is hardly what you could call documentation, but maybe myself and others can Google this in the future and see if this seems plausable. One thing for sure - there are a lot of unknowns about our environment.
