It just occurred to me there is a double irony of the Detroit Tigers (they are in the World Series) Domestic automakers are endangered or at least theatened with at least 30,000 autoworkers laid off from this year's announcements. Their mascot the tiger is more threatened than believed according to this story. In 2001, 7000 to 5000 tigers were in the wild - it may be 2000 or less today, down from 100,000 in 1900. Politics and short-sightedness afflict both situations.
