It's almost time to get tires and I'm on TireRack and having some trouble deciding. There is no mpg information on the continental and they are a full 3lbs lower in weight than the Bridgestone Ecopias I was getting drawn to. Any information out there regarding the mileage performance? I need some meaningful comparisons like those on the front page that Wayne went out and got which completely put all those tires into perspective. I couldn't find any LRR ratings anywhere
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireS...oModel=Eclipse GS&autoModClar=&sortCode=44950 No ratings just states they are LRR. Btw to narrow it down do you want all - seasons or Summer tires?
I have 2 LRR Continental tires on my Escape, and they're the noisiest tires I've ever owned. I would stay far away from them. I can't wait to get them replaced.
What I'd like is the actual numbers. I guess I'll have to go by customer feedback ratings. Thanks for the tip! I was actually trending towards those, but just before now I changed over to Bridgestone Ecopias....hmm I just went to tirerack and read some reviews: Continental Tire reviews Looks like they'd be the best bang for my buck at 80k miles and quieter than the Sonata OE tires... Are these the exact ones you have? They are rated at 80,000 miles vs 65,000 for the Ecopias.
They're Continental ContiTrac Eco Plus. Absolutely the noisiest tires I've ever had. I'm ditching the Continentals for some Michelin Latitude Tours soon.
I've not heard on anyone complaining about tire noise with the Continental ProContact with EcoPlus. Weird because plenty of people on PriusChat run them. I was considering them because they are an excellent buy and the Michelin Energy Saver A/S were not back in production. The ProContacts do not provide as good of mpg as the Energy Saver A/S, however. I ended up purchasing the brand new Yokohama AVID Ascend as part of a return credit Yokohama offered me on the AVID S33D tires that came with my new 2012 Prius Three. The Ascend is an excellent tire all around and mpg is similar to what I got with the OE tires. They are priced reasonably and offer an 85,000 mile warranty. If someone is looking for a LRR tire that offers outstanding tread life, great handling and steering feel, reasonable price, and reduced petroleum used to produce them then check out the AVID Ascend. The T rated tire works well for Prius sized cars or lighter. Look to the H and V rated tires for heavier cars or higher horsepower vehicles. I wrote a full review at Priuschat for these tires as I tend to do for all of my LRR tire purchases.
Hi Ricardo: Did you end up replacing your old tires yet? I am a huge fan of the Assurance FuelMax for quiet ride, good traction and an excellent low RRc. For absolutely the lowest RRc, the Bridgestone Ecopia EP20's are amazing but their grip in adverse conditions is not what most demand let alone expect. Wayne
Put a set of Ecopias on the wife's minivan as Costco had a $70 rebate on a set of 4 and they are very quiet and smooth riding. Not much adverse conditions here except for soft asphalt when it's 115.
As the test is about 3 years old now, have there been any updates/improvements in these tires or, are there any new ones that may even be better?
