4 days later and still no power. The people across the street have power, as does the street behind us
I just ran into bad luck now. My Medical Center Apt survived IKE ok, just water leaking in but had electricity. Then on Sunday my transformer blows and now I'm gonna be out for a long time. Fast food places are slowly opening. I just discovered McDonald's is open at my local Walmart, it has an electrical outlet and free Wifi - that's how I posted here! Gonna eat here every day for lunch!
McD is kinda scary. May want to consider fasting . Glad you got WiFi. Ours is still out, but we have power, so all is good. 11011011
I had McDeath all of Sunday and most of Monday, too. Got sick of it before long and went back to subsisting on canned chicken soup. Let me tell you, this is the best my pants have fit in weeks. I'm going to call it the "Blackout Miracle Diet".
Yeah, McDonalds is boring fast food! But if you gotta live cheap on unemployment a $1 Double Cheeseburger and $1 Sundae goes far and fills you up! But Houston has tons of better fast food, like Jack in the Box, Waffle House, James Coney Island, Luby's, and numerous unique restaurants! I'm very happy my electricity came back on Thursday night! I was just about to throw away lots of refridgerated food, but I found lots of stuff survived and did not spoil from Sunday morning to Thursday night without electricity. Like sealed meat, sealed rice pudding, Kraft Ultra Low fat $4.16 cheese, and my Light Soy Milk didn't spoil. I ate some of my "defrosted" tv dinners unheated, wasn't pleasant but it was ok - saved money. Most of the Medical Center grocery stores have new frozen food if you want some. Now I'm hoping Houston goes another 25 years without a Hurricane! I kinda love and hate this city! Better fast food, groceries, and shopping malls than Chicago, but Chicago is a funner town with more things to do and places to hang out and Chicago's Lake Shore Drive is just a totally awesome place to workout!
