When I bought my car I was averaging around 31MPG. My current 1 mo avg. is 43MPG. A little math and I get ~39% increase.

I'm hoping my grill block I'm slowly putting together will help bump that up even more.

I didn't vote in the poll since I've only been HMing for 2 months but my last 2 tanks went from 33 -> 38 and currently from my SGII and arithmetically, I'm over 45mpg on this current tank. Definitely the best I've ever had.

    EDIT:
After further tank calibrating the SG MPG was higher than the actual but a 41mpg is still better than where I was before (38mpg). 33 -> 41 = +26%. I can dig that. :)

I haven't been here long, but I used to get 17mpg, (combined EPA is 16) and my last tank was 24.5. And now I have my ScanGauge!

I went from averaging between 28-29 MPG (26 MPG in PA... more rural travel) to 39 MPG. That's a heckuva lot of cash that stays in my pocket ;).

My first tank was ~45 mpg This last tank was ~55. 25% better on the commute I have is more than I ever expected and the HCHII should get better as I get better, I still zone out occasionally. Special thanks to Tara as I have her to thank for my initial success. Great article.

    42% increase for me.

I'm ecstatic... but I know I've got a long ways to go. I'm determined to improve :)

MT bucket I want my MPG!

So far 30-40 % and it works in any vehicle I drive so I know it is not just the car. I have a scanguage coming, so I only see bigger numbers in the future! :)

I picked 'up to 20%' but that is being conservative. I've been using basic hypermiling techniques for a little more than a year now and I cannot be more pleased with the results and savings.

  9. I used to drive a HEMI.

What else can I say. :)

Hav'nt been here that long (four months),but found myself addicted to this blog.
Some of my 30-40% increase is from summertime temps, but will be fighting to keepmpg higher next winter. 90% of my miles are gravel so I find it haaard to break EPA standards. Still looking for 50+mpg, any tips appreciated.;)

    - My first 3000 miles I had ONE tank above 50MPG, and that was going through the middle of spring.
    - Going into the summer I had several tanks in the upper 50s as I started to learn how to drive efficiently - started going to MHG meets around this time.
    - The first winter I had just one tank worse than any in my first 3000 miles, the average was about 48.
    - The following summer I nearly broke 70 on a tank, and had several in the mid 60s.
    - The following winter I had one tank *below* 50MPG, and averaged about 52. :)
    - The following summer I had one tank above 80MPG and 3 others 70 or higher.
    - Last winter my average was about 55MPG.
    - So far this spring/summer I have had a lot more highway driving but am still managing to post all-highway tanks in the upper 60s. The all-in-town part of my latest tank (post-HF08) is running at 86.5/250 miles. :D

So, summer mileage has improved 60% or even more, winter about 20%.

I haven't been here a year yet, but my current goal is 100% increase over the original 28mpg tank I put up when I first joined. I've come fairly close, but I have not quite made it yet. Certainly over 45%.

I didn't post this when I voted in the poll, but...

My goal is to keep my FE at 200% of EPA in the FIT and 150% of EPA whenever
    I drive the minivan.

Maybe some day I'll get the minivan above 150, but it is an absoulte beast

The best I could muster before coming to this site was 32 mpg/tank. That's not bad for my car, but I had a '96 Civic for 12 years and could easily get 40mpg/tank on the thing (and it was an automatic). Thanks to this site, I now have a 40+ mpg car again!

Now that i have my yaris, i get up to 122 mpg imp. but it's usually 100mpg imp. I seem to have topped out there while using P&G but i have a bellypan, sideskirts and kammback in the pipeline......

I've noticed that my signature doesn't really correlate to my claim above. It's because i'm still trying to dial in the SG but it's not far off my fill measurements. I'm just working on that average thats been going since i got the car and it's just the last few trips have been in the 100's.

I found this site before I bought the Yaris so really do not have a clear before picture. I have been trying to get good mileage since day 1.

But, using the first 5 tanks averaged at 41 mpg then the last 5 tanks averaging 51 mpg it is about 25%.

That's awesome. When you can pull those kind of numbers for a tank you should be made King.

Before coming here I was getting 29 mpg on my best tanks, and my last couple of tanks have been over 38 (and the current one should be too).

So about a 31% increase so far, with more coming.

I thought it best to compare previous best tanks with my current best tanks. Otherwise I would have to compare my old average (~27.5 which includes winters) with my recent rapid increase (not enough for a trend without winters ravages affecting my increased skill level and addition of SG) yielding a 38%.

Thanks Voodoo for those kind words. I feel, however, that the car deserves most of the praise. It'll do 60mpg imp. while driven like a loon, sorry, everyone else.
