And just how do you propose to get off it? Please describe EXACTLY what you would do to get off the bike.

There was no propose about it in my crash. When the car came blasting out from behind the walled off parking lot I braked hard and saw there was no way in hell I was going to avoid hitting the car. So I got off the fronts brake,, locked up the rear. When the rear came around I stepped off. Landed on my back crushing the back of my new helment. The bike hit the car. I walked away. I was doing 40 mph or so when the car came out. I was glad to be alive. thinking about it kind of makes me sick to my stomach.

A fit human might be able to propel himself backwards at 3-6 feet /second (2-4 miles per hour) while "getting off" the motorcycle. If he brakes down to 5 mph before bailing backwards he wouldn't have to give up too much flesh or clothing burn off the last couple of forward mph.

I don't know that I could manage to time my backwards just that well. A bike can probably stop from 5 mph in just 5 feet,so I'm just not sure about bailing off the bike.

It has crossed my mind that it might make sense to attempt to jump straight up if a collision absolutely can't be avoided despite violent braking. If you can get your feet/legs above his roofline, you will just have to deal with scrubbing off your own speed with your clothing ,gloves , jacket etc. Once again , I don't know if I could time that , but better than getting smushed .
