I know there's been several threads about people's political beliefs, usually the one-dimensional scale of "liberal" or "conservative", and I'd see a lot of people say they were independent. So I'd like to throw in this test which has been around for a few years. It's very Euro-centric, but is on two dimensions instead of one--economic and social. http://www.politicalcompass.org/test (The link should work...) My results: Economic Left/Right: 0.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 8.56
Nice tool.... Its been a while since I've seen something so interesting... hummm... just for giggles, I'll bite: Here's mine (I think I can see Gandhi nearby...) Economic Left/Right: -4.12 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.36 Cheers; MSantos
Interesting. Economic Left/Right: -7.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.44 Ghandi is my nearest one too, and Nelson Mandela is a close second.
Strong Right, Slightly Libertarian. Almost on top of Milton Friedman. Economic Left/Right: 5.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.85 Sadly, there are NO current world leaders in that quadrant. I'd go with Ghandi before I went to Thatcher, though.
Brian, thank you for posting yours... ... for a minute there I thought I was going to be the only one occupying that quadrant. Cheers; MSantos
I'm with BailOut (his comment at least)... Interesting. Economic Left/Right: -3.75 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.08
My Score It said: Economic Left/Right: -1.25Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.59 ...but I think the truth is more like... Economic Left/Right: 1.25Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.59 Anyone else think some of their questions were worded anything but neutral?
Yes. Some of those questions were definitely baited. I saw a bias that said "transnational corporations are evil".
Economic: -4.88 Social: -1.54 However, this test is very poorly worded almost to the point of being a push poll. Reworking the questions to neutral, I'd be slightly positive economically and socially.
Economic Left/Right: -4.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.79 but i am not totally sure i understand the whole thing.
Here is me. Economic Left/Right: -0.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.21 What the heck does that mean?
Economic Left/Right: 2.0 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.05 Someone should make a graphic with everyone on it. I would but I am going to be busy for the next week. Like this one: OMG. I just realized am closest to John Edwards.
I'd think a good poll of this nature would have most political figures in the center. Since this one does not, it strongly hints at the political leaning of the poll
Economic Right 6.12 Social Libertarian -4.10 Not quite as far right as Milton Friedman, but quite a bit more socially libertarian. I appear to be one of the few in the economic right so far, though I'm a little surprised that only Kucinich is on the economic left of the "traditional" candidates.
My perception of dead center or 0,0 is somewhere between Bill Richardson and John McCain - does it sound strange that graph list all Democrats but one in right field?
