Europe?s Volvo S60 concept uses DI and Turbocharging on a 1.6L

Volvo S60 is set to achieve an unheard of for a gasoline engine, 47 mpgUS combined on the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC). The engine that Volvo has chosen for the Volvo S60 Concept is a 180 HP capable, four-cylinder, 1.6-litre gasoline unit using high-efficiency GTDi (Gasoline - Turbocharged ? Direct Injection) technology. This engine in combination with a range of other technical measures makes it possible to achieve the 47.1 mpgUS combined rating on the NEDC.
