Jokes while carmakers go broke
Investors aren't falling over themselves with laughter, but late-night comedians have found fodder in the woeful state of General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. shares. On the CBS "Late Show" this week, David Letterman joked: "A lot of things on sale on Columbus Day. You can get a good deal on a dining room set, mattresses, General Motors." On NBC, "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno also weighed in: "General Motors fell to its lowest level since 1950, not a good sign. In fact, in terms of carmakers, General Motors is now third behind Tonka and Hot Wheels."
