Taking Teenagers Out for a (Supervised) Spin

THE statistics are stunning, no matter how many times you hear them. Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among teenagers, with more than 5,000 fatalities each year. Even when the teenage fatalities were passengers, another young driver was usually at the wheel. The reasons are straightforward. New drivers have the least experience, and as airplane pilots know, it takes a lot of time at the controls to become proficient.
