Easing our addiction to the automobile.
The motto of the annual Great American Smokeout is that if you can quit smoking for a day, you can quit forever. If we could take this idea and apply it to our cars, imagine the impact - to our health, our city's quality of life and the environment. This is what the Commuter Challenge, which begins on Monday, asks us to do. Rather than driving to work or school, walk, ride your bike, take a bus or carpool.
