Are SUV?s really safe?

Results of crash tests for six mid-size SUVs show problems in how well they protect people in side collisions. The worst performers include the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chevrolet TrailBlazer even when equipped with side airbags. Five of the six SUV?s tested achieved a Good rating for the frontal crash test with only the Chevrolet TrailBlazer earning a sub par Acceptable rating. Based on overall results, the Chevrolet TrailBlazer is the lowest rated current model midsize SUV tested.
