In Japan, hybrid vehicle shipments up 47.6%.
TOKYO ? Japan's shipments of gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles in fiscal 2006 to March 2007 scored a robust rise of 47.6% from the previous year to 90,410 units, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said Friday. The brisk shipments of the low-emission vehicles apparently indicate that their popularity has soared as people have grown conscious of environmental conservation, said a JAMA official.
