Dave Schembri, president of Smart USA, said Tuesday morning that more than 20,000 advance reservations have been made for the Smart ForTwo mini-car with U.S. sales scheduled to begin in January. Smart USA is finalizing plans for a network of 60 to 70 dealers across the United States, Schembri said. About half of the Smart stores will be located in or near an existing Mercedes dealership, he said.
