VWs All-new 2016 Passat PHEV

Next week VW will be introducing the 2016 European Passat PHEV at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. Equipped with the latest fuel efficient drivetrain and advanced assistance and infotainment systems, it is a new design with more exciting proportions. The all-new eighth generation is currently being launched in Europe and the first Passat PHEV will be following soon after. The GTE combines a direct injected and turbocharged 156 hp 1.4L engine (TSI) with a 113 hp electric motor mated to a 6-speed DSG, and supplied with energy from a 9.9 kWh Li-Ion battery. No idea if that is total capacity to useable yet. Total system output is 215 hp which is far more than plenty for a midsize with a 20 + mile All-electric Range (AER).
