Ford and Samsung: 12V Pb-Acid Could Disappear
For Lighter weight and more powerful Li-on for micro through mild hybrid systems of the future. This past week Ford revealed that with the help of Samsung SDI, research on mild hybrid energy storage technology could one day help non-hybrid vehicles achieve even better fuel economy. The release discussed the result of a 10-year research effort, the dual-battery system, which combines a Li-Ion battery with a 12-volt Pb-acid battery that could enable regenerative braking technology in non-hybrid vehicles.
