Toyota?s Next Gen Engine Development Preview

Heading toward the magic 40% thermodynamic efficiency value. Next gen Atkinsonized 1.0 and 1.3L I3 and I4s are slated for 37 and 38 percent thermodynamic efficiency. Toyota is readying its latest small engines and are promising efficiencies that will be closing in on that of Hybrids and Turbo Diesels thanks to excellent thermodynamic efficiency. The new engines include the very latest combustion and loss-reduction technologies and appear to be following the path that Mazda has with its own SKYACTIV line. Higher thermodynamic efficiency via higher compression ratios without knock and improved efficiency for the consumer.
