Toyota Hybrids: 6 Million and Counting
Toyota revealed that cumulative global sales of its hybrid vehicles topped the 6 million unit mark at the close of New Year?s Eve, 2013. That number according to Toyota 6.072 million units with the last million-unit sales occurring in just nine months. Toyota now sells 24 hybrid models and one PHEV in approximately 80 countries around the world. Within the next two years, Toyota will launch a total of [b]15 new hybrid vehicles[/b] including the new ?Harrier Hybrid? in Japan on January 15 and the new ?Highlander Hybrid? in the U.S. With over 6-million Toyota hybrids sold since 1997 ? Generation I Prius was the first in Japan - the lineup has saved approximately 4 billion gallons of gasoline compared to the amount used by gasoline-powered vehicles of similar size.
