The Honorable Eiji Toyoda, Larger than Life Toyota Leader, Passes at 100
Eiji Toyoda as Chairman of Toyota in his later years. Eiji Toyoda, the individual most responsible for Toyota?s massive worldwide automobile expansion as president and later chairman, has died at the age of 100. Mr. Eiji Toyoda was born September 12, 1913. A cousin of KiichiroToyoda, the founder of the Toyota Motor Corporation, he graduated from the University of Tokyo with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1936 and immediately joined Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. He worked at the continually expanding company for a total of 69 years.
