Latest Boeign GPS Satellite Up and Running
Boeing?s GPS IIF delivers better position, navigation and timing data. In late February, a special ?package? containing a GPS IIF satellite built at the Boeing Satellite Development Center in El Segundo, California was prepped and shipped for launch at Cape Canaveral. Once assembled, each ?bird? is loaded into a shipping container and trucked a short distance to LAX. The transfer is performed after 6 p.m., when the L.A. rush hour has subsided. The convoy moves slowly, even more so when it comes time to slide the container into the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III.
