Honeywell's Latest Refrigerant Has Lower Global Warming Potential than CO2

Peer-reviewed paper states the Honeywell?s HFO-1234yf has a global warming potential that is four times lower than previously calculated. Earlier today Honeywell announced that the latest study on its HFO-1234yf refrigerant formulation has found that it has a global-warming potential (GWP) four times lower than previously calculated. The study claims it has an a lower GWP than CO2 itself in fact! DuPont and Honeywell identified HFO-1234yf (CF3CF=CH2) as the preferred low GWP Refrigerant that offered the best balance of cooling performance and environmental stewardship.
