UPS Deploying 100 All-Electric Delivery Trucks in California
One of the largest deployments of zero emission vehicles in the world according to the company. Beginning in the 1930s, UPS used all electric package ?trucks? on the streets of New York City. Although these vehicles did not travel more than 20 mph, they made perfect sense for an inner city urban area like Manhattan. They also didn?t contribute to the city?s pollution. According to UPS, the electric package vehicles were still in use in Manhattan in the early 1960s! UPS is now set to deploy 100 fully electric commercial vehicles that will deliver packages around the state.
