Frito-Lay Unveils Its "Near Net Zero" Manufacturing Facility

Making Frito?s and Lays potato chips is becoming more environmentally responsible by the package. Frito-Lay Casa Grande, AZ facility uses two single axis tracking PV systems, with more than 18,000 solar panels, on 36 acres of the facility's agriculture property. Frito-Lay has succeeded in reaching a "near net zero" sustainability at its facility in Casa Grande, AZ. The projects goals were to transform an existing facility so that it could operate as far "off the grid" as possible with primarily renewable energy sources and recycled water in addition to producing nearly zero landfill waste.
