Tokai University Wins World Solar Challenge While Crossing the Outback
By far the most eco-friendly and possibly even the friendliest automobile competition on the planet, this year?s World Solar Challenge was won by a solar-powered car entry from Japan's Tokai University. 37 teams from 20 countries and regions including 4 from the US from Berkley, Stanford, MIT and the University of Michigan, departed Darwin on Oct 16th hoping to be the first to arrive in Adelaide, 1,877 miles to the south in the race rule imposed 6.5 days. This year saw the largest field to ever competed in the World Solar Challenge.
