Crowds prefer fast, flashy to small, sensible.
Automakers rolled out 2007 models of fuel-efficient small cars and hybrids at the South Florida International Auto Show on Friday. But in spite of consumer complaints about high gasoline prices, the fuel savers displayed at the Miami Beach Convention Center were badly outnumbered by big, fast and expensive gas-guzzlers, reflecting carmakers' views of what many American buyers really want.
