GM Supporting Seat Belt Use Campaign
The Click It or Ticket campaign coordinated by the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and state highway safety offices has proven to be highly effective. NHTSA indicates that high-visibility enforcement activities like Click It or Ticket are "credited with increasing the national belt usage rate from 58 percent in 1994 to an observed usage rate of 84 percent in 2009". NHTSA points out that belt use saves thousands of lives each year across America. [b]In 2008 alone, seat belts saved 13,250 lives nationwide[/b].
