Volvo's acoustic design develops in a new lab

Acoustic design for cars is becoming increasingly important and Volvo does not plan to fall behind. With a brand-new acoustic laboratory, Volvo?s sound experts can make further progress in reducing or changing engine noise for a signature Volvo sound. The new acoustic laboratory is located in the heart of the Volvo production complex in Torslanda, Sweden. The chamber includes a network of sound-absorbing protrusions embedded in the walls and ceiling to give optimal preconditions for testing engine noise. No background noise penetrates, no standing sound waves occur to disrupt the tests.
