Ford?s plan for BEVs, PHEVs and HEVs
Detroit ? At this year?s 2009 North American International Autoshow (NAIAS), Ford revealed an aggressive plan to bring pure battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and next-generation hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) to market quickly and more affordably over the next four years. Along with the plan, Ford revealed its 2009 Focus BEV test vehicle that is not just a concept but an automobile we drove through the city streets of Detroit. The Focus? Li-Ion pack has a total cap of 23 kWh and a target all-electric range (AER) of 100 miles when the vehicle is introduced into the retail market.
