I had pretty much given up hope of getting one of these by the end of the riding season. The local dealers weren't getting them in. The nearest dealer that claimed to have them on order was in Salt Lake City, 230 miles away. I would do the trip but summer was fading fast, and they still didn't have the bike. Then the call finally came. They had one--an ABS model. I drove down there, bought the bike, and rode back home, staying off the I-15 and sticking to the slow surface streets and highways all the way home so as to break it in right. What a long day! 3.5 hours down in the car and 6.5...
First the NC700, then the CBR250R, both versatile and very fuel efficient. Now, the 2013 CBR500R looks like a very worthy fuel miser, value priced and a hoot to ride everyday.
Bought a new 2017 Road King today. Got it for $18.300 OTD, plus TT&L. It rides good, pulls like a train with almost 100 ft/lbs or tq off idle. Should get good mpg If I don't warm it up to much. Then somethings in my head says a blue NOZ bottle would look good on the rear fender,,,, No NO NO can't spray the new Harley.

Asia Pacific region is experiencing a gigantic growth in motorcycle/scooter sales.
I think it's possible that these new owners 'may' be fairly resilient to a rise in fuel prices. If an individual is only riding say 3,000 to 9,000 miles per year on 50 to 80 mpg ... he may be able to absorb a 25% or 50% rise in gasoline price. If there are many tens of million (perhaps even 100 million) new bikes being added to the world every year .... that will drive world oil consumption by a significant amount --- mostly immune from oil price demand...
You know your bike is fast when it derives its name from its tested top speed, 218 mph. one of the detonation (distortion) indicators when using lower octane fuel, is a drop in mpg. which is what happens to me every time i use 87 octane fuel. note: just because i cant hear engine ping doesnt mean it not happening. just means i cant hear it ping.
I read it painted on the side of a rowboat floating on the incredibly emerald water of the Bled lake, and I felt it'll be the title when I write about our trip to Bled, Slovenia. This is the first time that the both of us (ShiNIN and me) went on a longer trip together, both with our own bikes.
The location: Bled is in the neighbourhood of the Triglav National Park. It's a local center of tourism, but fortunately it wasn't unbearably crowded. Slovenia itself is our Southwest neighbour, and is such a little country that it's even smaller than Hungary which is a...

After the recent Las Vegas to Barstow Vetter Challenge I have thought a lot about my future participation in these real-world fuel economy contests. While I'm pleased to have improved a 40mpg bike into a 60mpg+ machine I have to recognize the inherent disadvantages my Yamaha Vision ( 550cc shaft-drive bike) presents versus the 250cc gas bikes and the diesel bikes that have been the previous Challenge winners ( 134 mpg to ~ 157 mpg). I decided to start looking for a used 250cc bike to modify for future fuel economy runs.
After about 2 weeks of searching I found a 1999 Kawasaki Ninja 250...
