It is going on 6 years old, and without warning, today when I went to leave from work, my FEH would not start. All this past week has been relatively short trips in extreme cold. I don't think we've had one day above freezing in at least a week. This evening when I went to leave work it was about 20F and the FEH refused to start. My battery was reading 8 volts. I guess this explains my drop in mileage the past month or so. I had felt the drop was more than just bitter cold weather, and now I guess I know why. Its been trying...
Just completed a heater core bypass and what a difference it made on the A/C in EV. I've had a feeling the heater core was causing the recir air to heat up much faster for a long time, but took action today. It was easy, cheap, and took only 20-30min after I got the parts and let the engine cool down an hour with the hood up. Here is what I did:
I couldn't find what Advanced Auto said was a kit, but I found
two heater hose 90 degree elbows that I attached together to make a U
As this is the first recal after I've totally familiarized myself with the FEH, and hearing recal nightmare stories from HCH owners, I was a little fearful.

I'm thinking its not such a bad thing. The battery seems to charge a lot easier/faster now. When going down mountains, it does hit the necessary charge level to enter DFCO quicker. I also noticed that my mileage seems to have ticked up a bit. I'm at 160 miles into this tank, and my dash display is...

Hi folks,

While trying to figure out what newer vehicle to get, that gets decent MPG for a 25 mile commute, the Escape Hybrid made our shortlist and my wife got very enthusiastic about it.

So I was wondering what there is to look out for when looking at used FEHs (And Mariners, Tributes)

Although I say 2nd gen, I am reading that the '08 still had the old drivetrain, then the '09 got the better 2.5 and aero improvements. Seeing a figure of 0.29 for the cD of the '10, so is that true and does it apply to '09 thru '12 ?

How does mileage affect them, meaning what wears quickest?...
