1. Aero. Yes, a lot of extra fairings and wind splitters and stuff are definitely here. It seems to make a big difference in windy conditions, and keeps the truck quieter to boot.

2. DD15 engine. This is a big ol engine, 14.8l, and it's a bit counter-intuitive that upsizing the engine would be the best option. But it works. It apparently was designed with this...

On Friday, SpaceX achieved its first successful Falcon 9 landing on a drone recovery ship at sea.

This was a crucial breakthrough as the company has now shown to the world that it can land its rockets on both land and a floating platform in the ocean.

During the NASA SpaceX Post launch and recovery Press Conference, Elon stated it expects as much as one-quarter of its launches to incorporate sea based recovery in the future....

As I prep for a trip to sunny Southern Calif. to drive the refreshed 2016 Sentra, a new exhibit appeared at the Mitchell Gallery of Flight.

A local man named Thomas Benes caught the flight bug as a boy when his parents brought him to Mitchell to see planes take off and land. As a Boy Scout, another visit saw him choose a career as a Marine Fighter Pilot which he followed through with honorary distinction.

If the Obama administration gets its way, trucks are about to work a lot harder to fight global warming. As the New York Times reported just over a week ago, the Environmental Protection Agency may push trucks, which account for about 25 percent of vehicles’ greenhouse gas emissions, to make significant improvements on their current, pathetic fuel consumption of 5 to 6 miles per gallon. Trucking companies will likely object strenuously, even though they stand to gain financially from using less fuel....

Spent all-day yesterday loading up a 24' box truck at two homes…

Actually we spent the day loading up my sons and his wife's stuff for the long drive to draught stricken San Diego, Calif. with maybe 15 to 20% of the load being ours...

Jesse is currently in a Volvo VNL w/ a D13 and 10-speed MT hauling local w/ 11 deliveries today. On the 320 mile round trip loop, he is about 285 miles into it and at 9 mpg! 45,000 pounds leaving the terminal and now probably at 40,000 coming home.

Hyundai is having a Regional for the all-new 2013 Santa Fe and 2013 Sonata Hybrid at their Tech Center in Ann Arbor tomorrow and I was invited… Flying would have been prohibitively expensive but riding the rails does not seem all that bad. I hopped on a Metra (local rail) this morning down the street form my parents on the IL/WI border for $7.25. Once downtown, it’s a one-block walk to Chicago’s Union Station. This was a $33.00 ticket.
