Finally, what I’ve never mentioned before about my “wealth” of used tires. I have two cars of different sizes, both which had very common wheel bolt patterns. This allowed me to buy “used tires mounted on WHEELS of 14”, 15”, 16”, 17” & 18” sizes, which people were trying their best to get rid of. All this, blasted open a huge array of usable used tires, allowing me to get excellent, but dead cheap (free?) tires & sometimes mounted on accompanying wheels.
It is a wealth of tires, upon which I later thought, “I’ll never use all these tires before I die”. But the latter months, I’ve been solidifying my ideas of a future Electric Vehicle. I hope to eventually pick an EV with excellent battery pack LIFE, that will last 400,000 to 500,000+ miles. If I do pick the right EV & battery pack AND I can charge on all those free EV chargers within hundreds of miles, I will use up all of my packrat & “tire dump” tires.
So go my hopes. Tho I have declining health, I still love to drive & can still travel goodly distances. Now, I’m ready to pick the right EV, battery pack & lots of EV charger adaptors……about a year & a half from now.

Today , 60 deg F in both Naperville and Elk Grove. Wind from
    north-northeast at 7 Mph hurt. 35.0 miles , fcd = 62.9 x .943 =
59.3 MPG. However , this same wind yesterday , at 85 deg F and
    scenic route #2 worked out pretty good. 32.1 miles , fcd = 79.2 x .943 = 74.7 MPG.

Or has your expertise at sniffing out such bargains on sound tires. When I lived next-door to a used-tire store a few decades ago, I bought a couple from them. They didn't turn out so great.

    Been busy of late!

Since leaving work last Monday I have driven 242 miles in the Tesla at an average of 192 Wh/mi or 175.5MPGe

I've charged at home 4 times adding 227 miles plus a free charge adding a measly 8.6 miles on a slow charger.

I'm currently on day 2 of a 3 day self-isolation and working at home as I'm going to hospital for a procedure Thursday afternoon so no driving for me until at least Friday.

    Current range is 211

You’re right. I never found good used tires right next door to me.
PS…..I must modify the above statement. Once, a fellow had 4 used Cooper tires, which he delivered right to my driveway. I told him my back was giving troubles right then, & he even off-loaded the tires in front of the garage. Yeah, he earned what little pay he got from me.

Today , 57 deg F in Naperville , 55 in Elk Grove Village.
Not sure how many miles , but at least a mile shorter than the usual
morning route , so I could buy fuel at Amoco in Naperville.
    64.7 x .943 = 61.0 MPG.
Paid $3.269 for 87 E10. It was 19 cents less than the "cheap" Exxon
in Elk Grove that I sometimes use.
    598.2 miles , 9.173 gallons , fcd = 68.6 x .943 = 64.7 MPG.
    598.2 / 9.173 = 65.2 MPG.

Ha….. two quick notes & comment about the U-tube channel: 1) U-tube is banning anti-vaccine propaganda, 2) Russia may ban U-tube, since U-tube banned russian propaganda German language RT channel.
We’ll see if U-tube’s new money-making advertisements will affect its….. “interesting content”.

    PS, later this evening:
Hmmm…..what I thought was minor give & take (even if it did include the dictator putin-led russia), seems to be of greater import than I thought. Rachel Maddow high-lighted these connected events on her MSNBC show tonight.
