[IMG] Honda’s CR-V was the company highlight in January.

    [IMG]Wayne Gerdes – CleanMPG – Feb. 1, 2016

FWD 2017 Honda CR-V EX-T – $27,635 incl. the $940 D&H charge with the award winning 1.5L turbo which offers owners an incredible 28/34 mpgUS city/highway rating.

    2017 Honda CR-V Design

The new CR-V incorporates horizontal chrome upper grille work flowing into new Halogen (LEDs on the Touring trim) headlamps surrounded by a wing-shaped LED DRL array on all trims. An Active Shutter Grille lowers drag while a lower bright chin spoiler tops off its new face.

A longer wheelbase, short rear overhang, 17 and 18” alloys, a thick chrome sill inlay and dual exhausts add to its curb appeal.

A hard black plastic cladding surrounding the entire lower edge of the vehicle adds both real world and perceived toughness.

    2017 Honda CR-V Convenience Features

An optional Hands-Free powered hatch, Auto High Beam with High Beam Support (HSS) headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and roof rails add to its ease of use.

    2017 Honda CR-V Drivetrain

The 2017 CR-V EX and higher trims will an even more powerful and efficient 190 hp (184 hp in the LX) 1.5L direct-injected and turbocharged I4. With a more aerodynamic exterior and the already proven engine, higher efficiency is all but guaranteed. And that is on regular unleaded fuel. LX trims will continue on using a direct-injected 2.4L I4. Both engines will be mated to the brands highly regarded CVT with Honda G-Shift control logic.

    2017 Honda CR-V Chassis

The all-new body and chassis features struts up front and a multi-link w/ low-friction dampers out back, both with stabilizer bars. Nothing really new here. A dual-pinion, variable ratio Electric Power Steering (EPS) should provide improved steering feel.

    2017 Honda CR-V Interior

Honda says their new CR-V will have a larger interior volume and the best rear seat legroom in its class. A new soft-touch dash and more intricately stitched seats should provide a nicer place to sit.

Its passenger volume is 105.9 cu. ft. for the LX, 102.9 cu. ft. for the EX and EX-L (sunroof), and 101.6 cu. ft. for the Touring (sunroof plus other "stuff"). This is up 1.8, 1.4, and .1 cu. ft. over the 2016 MY LX, EX/EX-L, and Touring respectively.

Cargo volume with the rear seats up is 39.2 cu ft., up 2 cu. ft. over the outgoing 2016 model.

High end wood like inserts, more elegant seat and dash stitching, and piano black dash surrounds help move the new CR-V upscale.

Regarding infotainment, a 7” Display Audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto arrives on higher end trims. Honda also sort of fixed a mistake they continue to make with their most recent offerings. An honest to goodness physical volume knob is standard. Missing however is a tuning knob? How did that get through the product planners again?

The NAVI backend is all Garmin so that should be great!

It can be purchased with remote start, dual-zone climate, heated side mirrors, an Electric Parking Brake (EPB), rear USB charging ports, front passenger seat with 4-way power adjustment and driver's seat with 8-way power adjustment and 4-way power lumbar support and heated front seats.

    2017 Honda CR-V Safety

Honda Sensing is standard on EX and above higher trims. I hope they have improved the RCC system in particular.

Honda Sensing includes Collision Mitigation Braking (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and pedestrian sensing capability, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with low-speed follow and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS). Additional new driver-assist technologies include the available Blind Spot Information (BSI), Rear Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) and Auto High Beam (HSS) headlights.

The 2017 Honda CR-V will be produced at three plants in North America – in East Liberty, Ohio; Alliston, Ontario, Canada; and, for the first time, in Greensburg, Indiana using domestic and globally sourced parts. Engines for the new CR-V will be manufactured in Anna, Ohio and in Alliston, Ontario, with the CVT being produced in Russells Point, Ohio.

    Honda January 2017 Sales Overview

Honda reported it sold 106,380 Honda and Acura vehicles in January, up 5.9 percent over January of 2016s 100,497 vehicles sold. This result was a new January sales record for the hard charging Japanese brand!

Honda on its own set a new January records, with total sales of 97,178, up 7.7 percent over the 90,247 sold in January of 2016.

Acura like many luxury divisions had a tough month with sales of 9,202 vehicles in January, down 10.2 percent from the 110,250 sold in January of 2016.

    Honda January 2017 Sales Highlights

The Honda highlight was and continues to be the CR-V CUV. Sales in January reached 29,287, up 52.5 percent over the 19,208 sold in January of 2016. And this the reason for it being highlighted above.

The number one tidbit in the January segment sales reports is that the Ford Fusion Hybrid outsold the Prius liftback for the first time in history. I believe this is the first time the Prius Liftback has been surpassed since the Gen 2 was released back in late 2003!

    Hi All:

More good news about the 2017 Honda CR-V before our turn behind the wheel next month.

In March of 2016, HMIN announced new investment of $52 million and the creation of 100 new jobs to support the production startup of the Honda CR-V, as Honda invested in its capability to meet growing demand for its light-truck models. Production of the CR-V was originally completed at Honda de Mexico (HDM) plant in Guadalajara. Honda now builds the CR-V at its East Liberty, Ohio, Alliston, Ontario, Canada, and now Greensburg, OH auto manufacturing facilities.
