Hot rig, super efficient and great pic Cash! I sent in a few proposals to RAM about 02:30 am this morning to do something with one of their super 3/4 tons with the Cummins. The 3.42 rear end with the ATs makes all the difference. Wayne
WOW Huge powerful vehicle getting 20+mpg hy When I was a kid-1050's -1960's 20 mpg tank was a bragging point-and it was usually a lie or a one off Only a VW or our little MG1100'S-or the tiny foreign cars- fiat renault simca mg- and maybe that little "american car" actually would routinely get 20 mpg at 65 mph The little Corvair-MIGHT have done it- maybe the early 4 cylinder Chevy II would do it hy only But now we have HUGE 400 HP 850 FTLBS 8000 lbs 4X4's getting 20+mpg hy at 65-70 mph!! I never thought I would see a 40mpg 60 mph 1/2 ton pickup- and sure as heck never thought there would be a 850 ft lb 3/4 ton 8000 lbs 4x4 24mpg at 60 mph pickup
Hi All: Just throwing this out there as the last time I was in a 4X4 2500 HD was at the Chrysler "What's New" event at the Chrysler Proving Grounds back in 2014. The short 2 to 3 mile drive loop from the parking lot, around the track and back to the parking lot was pretty darn impressive. Enough so that I think that the I6 Cummins equipped truck may be more efficient than the F-150s and the EB no matter the configuration. Wayne
Sorry to dig up the old post, but now that I drive rigs, what a sweet pic. And, that's the wonder of diesel. With an empty trailer I'm still 32k lbs with a Detroit Diesel 14.8l, 455hp/1650tq...and run 10-12mpg. Even bobtail (no trailer) I'm around 19k lbs and rip off 13+mpg trips. Heck, nearly fully loaded (70+k lbs) I can manage 8-9mpg in favorable conditions. Diesel is that good. And Cummins is on their game no matter if it's light, medium, or heavy duty stuff.
