Toyota April 2016 Sales Overview Toyota reported it sold 211,125 vehicles in April, an increase of 3.8 percent over the 203,329 vehicles sold in April of 2015 and just beating the automotive industry’s 3.4 percent April sales increase. Lexus posted sales of 24,882 vehicles, down 3.8 percent below the 25,876 sold in April of 2015. Year to date, the luxury marque sales of 99,103 vehicles is also down 3.8 percent from the 103,056 sold through the same period of 2015. Toyota April 2016 Sales Highlights In April, Toyota sold 32,111 Corolla's, up 0.4 percent over the 31,990 sold in April of 2015. Year to date, the 116,371 sold is down 5.2 percent from the 122,718 sold through the same period of 2015. RAV4 sales were the real powerhouse with sales of 30,152 vehicles up 31.6 percent over the 22,914 sold in April of 2015. This one result not only lead the U.S. Utility segment just ahead of the always popular CR-V by some 1,200 vehicles, it was the RAV4s best April sales result in history. Year to date sales of 106,274 vehicles is up 18.2 percent over the 89,924 sold through the same period of 2015. The popular Tacoma was purchased by some 18,106 new owners, up 15.6 percent over the 15,656 sold in April of 2015. Year to date sales of 62,682 are up 13.3 percent over the 55,322 sold during the same period of 2015. Market Share Detail In March Honda picked up significant market share. On a volume basis, March sales of 1.50 million vehicles was up 3.4 percent over April of 2015s 1.45 million vehicles sold result. 2016 YTD sales of 5.55 million is up 2.8 percent over the 5.4 million vehicles sold through period of the same 2015. The Rav4 Hybrid looks like a great family wagon. Not anything that I am currently looking for, but it is a great looking vehicle still the same. All the utility and none of the major fuel economy hit of yesteryear.
Toyota Canada April Sales Up 15.4% with 23,822 Vehicles Sold Toyota Canada April 2016 Sales Overview Toyota Canada sold 23,822 Toyota, Scion and Lexus vehicles in April, up 15.4 percent compared to the 20,642 sold in April of 2015. Year to date sales of 69,248 vehicles is up 11.7 percent over the 61,971 sold through the same period of 2015. Lexus achieved its best sales month and as its nineteenth consecutive monthly record. A total of 2,386 Lexus cars and SUVs were sold in April, up 11.1 percent compared to last year. Toyota Canada truck sales hit a monthly record for the sixteenth straight time. That included a best month for Toyota trucks, with 11,211 vehicles sold, up 20.0 percent. Toyota Canada April 2016 Sales Highlights Corolla lead the brand with 5,641 vehicles sold, up 3.4 percent over the 5,456 sold in April of 2015. Year to date, the iconic Corolla achieved sales of 13,992, down 3.4 percent below the 14,483 sold through the same period of 2015. RAV4 achieved sales of 4,985 vehicles, up 19.1 percent over the 4,185 sold in April of 2015. This result was its best monthly result in history. Year to date sales of 14,574 vehicles is up 17.6 percent over the 12,397 sold during the same period of 2015. Hybrid vehicle sales were up 52.9 percent in April with 1,846 sold. The all-new 2016 Toyota Prius achieved sales of 323 vehicles in April, up 112.5 percent over the 152 sold through the same period of 2015. Year to date sales of 679 is up 30.3 percent over the 521 sold through the same period of 2015.
