I had no idea of your interest in my, er, nos. Nor that you have been pestering Wayne.
Anyway, I reckon that you should get the bottle dusted off in, say, March (though I don't know how often this is updated). I have about 2000 miles to go. I fill up this week.

OTOH, I wouldn't hold your breath. I don't think this month will bring me down much but even though we have mild winters and I still will be in the skilled category, I seriously doubt I can make it into expert til later. MUCH later.

If I do it seems somewhat unfair I can't share the bottle with you. LOL!

Wayne - thanks for the recent recognition..Almost 10,000 miles now and holding right around 70 mpg. I have to agree with you completely - getting above the epa in the Insight takes work. Now if only it would not snow up here on the north coast this winter

Btw: Can you fix my name? It's LeanAztek. Aztek as in the vehicle not the ancient society.

 

Oh probably NOT worse than the rest of us!! I'm averaging 5 mpg lower now I think. I won't be surprised if the next tank is only 35. And we don't even have such severe weather as some of you.

I'm still not comfortable with a complete grill block though. It is getting up to 50 sometimes.

Yeah, that 39 is correct. It was a half gallon gas bath. The FCD read 54.0 but since I counted the half gallon as gallons consumed, it tanked my tank .

I've suffered two gas baths over my LMPG. Factoring out the lost gas and times when other drivers had the car, my LMPG jumps from 59.7 to 61.3.

So remember guys... DON"T SPILL GAS

When you check your vehicle's rated fuel economy at that site, the displayed values are the adjusted 2008 numbers, not the window sticker numbers. Click on "Compare to Official EPA Window Sticker MPG" and you'll see that the correct numbers as listed under "Old EPA MPG" are:

30 city / 33 highway

Use these numbers and your "skilled"/"expert" rating and "% of combined EPA" will be correct.

 

OK. I give up. How do you add your car and mileage to the database. I saw Wayne's reply and decided to do it, but I looked all over the site and couldn't find a way. I searched "Mileage Logs" and "Garage" in detail, but found nothing.

Someone clue me in!

Go to "Mileage Logs" and click on "Add Vehicle". After you've added your vehicle, click on "Add Tanks" to input your gas purchase & mileage data.

You got very close I think. If I remember right you need to go mileage logs and near the top, but not at the very top on the left half there should be an "add vehicle" option that you can select. It has been awhile for me, but I remember that once I found that spot to enter it was pretty easy to get started.

Ok, I'm a newbie on this site and apparently can't post my own thread so I'm jumping on this one with a comment about ethanol (and other alternatives) and MPG. Rating our rides by "MPG" has stood us in good stead for a very long time. I want to make the argument that with alternatives coming on line we might want to think about a new standard "cost per mile" (CPM) as a way to measure fuel economy. Here in Missouri all of our gas is 10% ethanol by state law beginning 1/1/08. I have no way of knowing whether 10% ethanol is a ripoff or not because I no longer have a with/without price comparison to look at in Missouri. I had my car converted nearly 2 years ago so I can burn either gas or E85. At today's prices a mile on E85 is cheaper than a mile on gas by about 1 cent. There are other alternatives coming on line such as electric and hydrogen. They are not widely available yet but the future is coming.

There seems to be something of a predjudice against ethanol on this site. It does not take away from the food supply nor does it make food more expensive. There are two different kinds of corn involved in this equation and the cost is going up because gasoline and diesel have gone up. Those 2 fuels are predominately used to transport our food.

You can start a new thread from day one. You are either doing something wrong, or there's something wrong with your computer.

BTW to Wayne... I know you're a really busy guy, and there's a lot of new people on the site, but are you gonna have a new Congrats list anytime soon?
