With Ike now behind us, destruction of another sort was left in its wake

Poster: xcel (see this users gallery) Just as the petroleum industry was beginning to draw down its summer RFG (Reformulated Gasoline) supplies to replace them with winter-grade products, Hurricane Ike caused Crude oil shipments and refinery output to be curtailed (read cut off and shut down) as the massive storm raced across the Gulf of Mexico. Up to 22 percent of the entire US’ total refining capacity literally disappeared overnight.
