Energy bill passes the house and stalls in the Senate

The House yesterday approved the new energy bill by a vote of 235-181 vote while the vote tally followed mostly party lines with both the Republican minority in the House and White House opposing. Fourteen Republicans voted for the bill. Seven Democrats opposed it.

The bill includes the well known provision that increases the fuel economy standards of both cars and light trucks to 35 mpg by 2020. The somewhat unknown provisions include the following ...
