GM’s HCCI engine research is continuing

Poster: xcel (see this users gallery) Detroit, MI. -- GM initiatives for developing advanced fuel-saving technologies have led its engineers to put the squeeze on gasoline – literally. GM continues to develop homogenous charge compression ignition (HCCI) and is working towards placing this fuel-saving and emissions-reducing engine technology into production. An HCCI engine can provide an additional 10 percent boost in fuel economy vs. a standard engine by altering the combustion process.
