New! 2007 Toyota Matrix, 36.5mpg!!
Hi all,
Boy am I glad to have heard about the group! I saw it being discussed in the latest issue of Reader's Digest. (Way to go Wayne! Congrats on the win. ;-))
I've been a wannabe hypermiler but never knew it. I drive an 07 Matrix, red, automatic. I've always strived for better fuel economy. See my fuel economy below before I hypermiled officially, by following advice I found on here...
Pre-hypermiling:
Max: 34.5mpg
Min: 29.6mpg
Avg: 31.0mpg
Now after my first hypermiled tank?
36.5mpg!! SIMPLY AMAZING!!! Combined EPA for my car under the new 08 standards is 27mpg. So Pre-hypermiling is 115% of EPA. Post Hypermiling is 135% of EPA!
Holy !@#$#$!#!
Happy 2 be a Hypermiler!! ;-)

Welcome welcome! We are glad to have more enthusiastic members.
Keep working at it and you'll continue to be shocked at what you can pull from your machine.

Especially ones more enthusiastic than Sean. He hardly ever says anything. Kidding.
Welcome to the site m6soto! From the looks of your numbers, it looks like you'll be teaching us shortly.

Hi M6soto:
___In the case of the win, sometimes even a blind squirrel finds a nut
___Welcome to CleanMPG and anything you can do to reduce your consumption saves all of us in the process. Let me be the first to thank you up front for your efforts so far! Read, learn, practice on desolate roads until the basics become second nature and than move to the advanced when it comes to the why’s and how’s. It will be an interesting journey for you even if you don’t take it to the limits like most of the heavies here at CleanMPG. Sean and Larry are definitely heavies too We will help and encourage but if it feels like we are pushing a little hard, just say so and follow your own path. The end result will be amazing nonetheless and I look forward to hearing of your future progress.
___As both Sean and Larry have already mentioned, your enthusiasm is first rate and I know you are going to have a lot of fun in the very near future
___Good Luck and welcome to CleanMPG.
___Wayne

Welcome to the site. And, nice car!
I have a 03 manual Matrix. The wife mostly drives it, but when I get the chance its a great car to drive. I have yet to get it above 40 mpg, but its only a matter of time. BTW, great first tank! My wife doesn't even average that high in her manual.

Re: New! 2007 Toyota Matrix, 36.5mpg!!
I have an '05 Corolla. Same engine, car is a little lighter. I was disappointed with my last tank, but it was pretty cold up here in the great white north, but today on the way home from work I was cruising in the 50's and 50's (MPG) so I'm ecstatic about that. I guess the warmer weather really does make a difference.
Nice to see you in here with such enthusiasm. I'm new to this myself, but drying to squeeze every mile, and every drop I can.
Good Luck.
