Hello to MiHG members and friends,
This will be our first meet of 2008 and I hope Gaia is gentler on us than she was with the snowstorm meet in December. We anticipate several new members attending, so we’ll have a great chance to show them our hospitality and friendliness and share our hybrid experiences with them.
This meet will focus on our involvement in the 2008 Milwaukee Auto Show (MAS). We have been invited back again and we have tripled out footprint (15 ft. by 30 ft.) and we will be having a vehicle on display as well. With the cooperation of our members at Wisconsin Public Power Inc (WPPI), we will be showing their beautiful Toyota Prius plug-in. Here is their link and the MAS link:

The MAS is the biggest annual event that the MiHG is involved with. Last year we reached over 500 visitors with info on hybrids, EcoDriving, oil dependency and other environmental concerns. We also were the educators to the public with our experience and accurate knowledge on hybrids to offset the inaccurate or misleading information that was given out by others. We added over 100 members to our MiHG through last years MAS. So if your family and relatives are sick of you talking about hybrids, fuel efficient driving or the future of the planet, the MAS is the place to be. If you’re on our staff at the MAS, you’ll be given free admittance and parking for the days you attend. I’ve attached a MAS schedule so you can determine when to sign up. This is your and our MiHG opportunity to shine and help educate the public. I can guarantee that you will enjoy your time there as well as the MAS. We only have two weeks to the MAS and slots will fill fast so email me ASAP with your preferences. For those out of state, we can offer you some overnight housing with members. Specific details will follow to our MAS staff.
For our first timers, here’s the way things generally work at a meet. We begin to gather in the Library parking lot about 9:15am to schmooze and show off our vehicles. If the weather is good, we’ll begin check-in and our VTP’s at that time. At 10:00am we’ll begin to setup our room and by 10:20 we should be set to begin our introduction round robin. We’ll have short session and then take a short break for snacks and item sales. We’ll then have our main session and offer some updates, reviews, news, short subjects and door prizes and then break for lunch about 12:30pm. After our potluck lunch, we’ll begin our driver training sessions about 12:50pm and begin cleanup. Beverages and utensils will be supplied but we encourage all attending to bring some food to share. (Main dishes are greatly appreciated). Be prepared to be gracious and understanding because the agenda usually does not follow the timeline.

So if you know anyone who would like to learn how to save money and lower their fuel costs, invite them to attend. This will be a major part of the MiHG public outreach in 2008 and there is no better time to start than now.
Please feel free to bring any co-worker, friend or relative if they are thinking about buying a hybrid or in getting better mpg in whatever their currently driving. Our meets are the best way to get accurate and real life info on hybrids and actual hands on EcoDriving training. We’ll also have “spectacular” door prizes, free handouts and interesting displays in addition to good camaraderie. We will also have some SG2’s with XGauge at $135 and the Accutire Tire Gauge MS4350B for $15.
We anticipate another great and memorable meet and we thank you for all your encouragement and support in the continual growth of the MiHG, the largest hybrid owners group in North America. Questions please call us at 262-691-4349.
