If fram is not good, what would a good quality filter be?

Re: Got my SG II yesterday -- What a tool!!

That's interesting about the MAFs, are they karmon-vortex type on the subarus? I had MAS's on my mitsu's, and got rid of them in favor of the GM MAFs, although much less acurate. I've always used K&Ns, and almost everyone I know who races mitsu's, but maybe Subaru uses a different style that have a problem with oil.

Re: Got my SG II yesterday -- What a tool!!

Personally I use purolator pure one filters for both my air and oil filters. Fram filters are literally junk that is living on a "good" name. I can recommend several decent oil filters but I have used nothing but purolator or OEM air filters (with the small exception of trying a K&N once)

Re: Got my SG II yesterday -- What a tool!!

Mobil 1 filters are great. They rate right at the top along with Purolator PureONE, Amsoil, K&N (oil filters only!).

Mobil 1 filters basically the same as Bosch and Supertech (Walmart brand). Mobil 1 filtering media is synthetic while the others are plain jane, but they are almost as good.

Any of the above listed filters will work great as oil filters. Of course you could always go OEM as well.

Re: Got my SG II yesterday -- What a tool!!

Hi Blake:

___The Bosch, Supertec and I believe Purolator use semi-synthetic media from Champion Labs vs. full for the Mobil1. One study I read ages ago showed a higher propensity to bypass due to the higher DP across the Mobil1 so I will not touch that one myself. Than you have the stupid high expense by comparison to the Supertec and sometimes Bosch when you can find them on sale at the local AutoZone.

___Good Luck

___Wayne

Re: Got my SG II yesterday -- What a tool!!

Because of you guys I switched to a Supertech oil filter. Will do synthetic oil sales with a Pure One oil filter though. It's way cheap to get 5qts Castrol Syntec at Walmart ($19.96) and a Supertech filter ($2.96).

Well, if my short ram intake and catback exhaust give me 1 sec 0-60 faster times I'm much happier as I still get 41.4 to 42.6 mpg. But I was expecting my car to do 45 mpg easy without much hypermiling. At least it's way faster than a VX which is slow. And if my car can double as a sports car by going into high rpms - I'd be very happy. After my DashDyno is calibrated for fuel economy I'm gonna use it to get my car's best 0-60 times, because I actually wonder how fast my car is.

Hi 99HXCivic:

___I hope you only need to find out just once because the HX is not that fast and to continually place it into an area of max performance is an absolutely wasteful exercise

___Good Luck

Re: Got my SG II yesterday -- What a tool!!

You should see if you can fit a k20 in there with a turbo, that will help your 0-60 jk

Actually, Jaysen472 - I should compare my 0-60 times with your car's 0-60 time! You're running all stock, right?

What mpg do you get without hypermiling?
