They are using rotenone which is an "organic" extract from any of several tropical plants. It is an approved pesticide for use on organic farms. Unfortunately, it is also an environmental toxin that can induce Parkinson's disease. I might not have calculated the risk/reward trade-off the same way the fisheries officials did.

LOL, natural poisons can mess you up just as bad as the unnatural ones. There's got to be a predator that likes pike. Maybe import some hungry polar bears? ...solve 2 problems
