Sat, Sept. 8th, Houston Hybrid and Hypermiler's Club

Houston Hybrid & Hypermilers Club (aka H³C)

Basic discussions about hybrids and techniques to maximize fuel efficiency (both hybrid and non-hybrid).

Sat, Sep 8th @ Noon
La Salsa Restaurant, Cypress Texas (Houston Cy-Fair)
15202 Mason Rd (Northwest Houston Metro Area)

There is a banquet room as you walk in to the left. I'll get some fliers up so you know your in the right place.

La Salsa is just inside the Fairfield subdivision. Mason road is after Mueschke if on 290 westbound and after Bauer if on 290 eastbound.

Google Map

Agenda
-Honda Insight MIMA install walk through.
-Hypermiling (Eco-Driving) tips and tricks.
-ScanGaugeII test runs and driving clinics.
-General Hybrid Q&A.

Hybrids:
-2007 Toyota Prius (with EV mod and Block Heater mod)
-2000 Honda Insight (with MIMA mod)
-2007 Ford Escape Hybrid

There are a few other places to eat if you want some other food.

Last month's meeting got too hot to hold outdoors, so we've moved to a local restaurant. We are still working on a centralized location, so please let me know if you know of some good options for October.

There is some overlapping agenda from last month, and we will try to get through a fairer portion of it this go round.

I'll have my ScanGauge (fuel consumption display) so we can hook it up to your car to see real-time fuel usage. It works on most cars made after 1995. One thing that helps is knowing your engine size (displacement). This is usually represented in liters, cubic centimeters or cubic inches. An example would be a Mustang 5.0L V8.

Email or PM me and I'll pass along my cell number if you need it.

It's very cool that you just hauled off and organized one
of these. Did you have to interact with the restaurant at
all, i.e. get permission for a bunch of people to hang out
in their parking lot and/or pile in for a meal?
.
I wonder if the same approach would work in NE -- i.e. just
say "we're having a gathering HERE <date&time>" in a sufficiently
authoritative manner that people would actually show up..
.

Re: Sat, Sept. 8th, Houston Hybrid and Hypermiler's Club

Yeah, I fudged the facts a bit. I said that a dozen hungry hypermilers would be coming and ordering steak and shrimp all afternoon.

Manager said.. OK

If it doesn't pan out I'll just pick a different restaurant next month. Cool part is that CMPG has gotten high enough on the web spider's list, that a lot of people are getting the notice on a google alert.

Hi Dan:

___With your energy and enthusiasm, I believe the HHG could be every bit as good as any of the rest. I am sure you have read that Bradlee of the MiHG would be willing to help you move forward if you need any assistance from him?

___The MaHG meets at a Culver’s (fast food chain) w/ a separate dining room in the back for groups to have meetings and such while eating Culver’s delicious entrιe’s The MiHG meets at a public library just south of Milwaukee and what a godsend it has been to have that location with a very large meeting room and in a central location. Even still, the MiHG meets are busting at the seams given the ever increasing attendance.

___The Google alert info is beyond me but am glad to hear it nonetheless

___Good Luck with the meet!

___Wayne

Hey Dan,

I'm headed your way Saturday. Looking forward to meeting you, the metallic grey, and chatting mileage with the other Houstonians who show up.

I'm sure I would have gone anyway just to meet Dan & support his "baby", and that the non-interstate highway I'll be on with a 600 foot elevation drop over 150 miles for SHM testing fun has nothing to do with it.
