Hybridfest 2008 will be the third weekend in July, 2008

I'd like to say yes, bit it's always asking a lot when I leave the kids for that long. Parenting is often easier in pairs. There may also be some conventions I get drafted for at work.
So that leaves four possibilities:
1) I don't go.
2) I go, but fly (reducing my time away)
3) I bring the family.
4) I buy my wife a big diamond early in July and drive up again in 2008
#3 sounds good, but I don't know how much time my family could kill. Try as I might, my wife is just not a true believer. #3 would also likely mean flying since it's hard to put the kids through that much driving.
#2 (and likely #3) leaves me without a car for the challenge, borrowing one isn't that hard, but I've grown accustomed to the instant on/off OEM EV button.
So looks like it's going to come down to $$. If it's a good year, I can spring for the diamond and go for #4. If not, #3 #2 and #1 get progressively less expensive. There may always be a grand-parent card we can play as well.

Dan, you sound like me. I have a corollary to "parenting is often easier in pairs." It goes something like this:
I...DON'T....KNOW....HOW...SINGLE....MOMS/DADS....DO....IT.
I plan on being there, but I am leaning towards flying to minimize the wife's load.

Remember, hybridfest coincides with the county fair. You can take some time and spend it with the family at the fair and they can wander around for a bit while you go around hybridfest. Thats what my wife and I did this year. I spend a few hours a day with them at the fair and they kind of chilled in the hotel room or wandered the fair on their own at other times.
